Are you going to be bitter or better?  When I heard this recently, I immediately stopped to hear what followed.  The discussion centered on how people navigate their lives after having a rocky start when they were children.  I don't believe any of us had the perfect parents as they all learned their roles through lots of trial and error.  Perhaps if someone had five children, by the time they got to the fifth one, they may have been better prepared. Most parents worked with small complex human beings called children, so there could not have been many easy answers.  The rest of the conversation centered on whether people hang on to the bitter memories of how they grew up or focused on not repeating the errors that they witnessed to become better.  I believe that hanging on to bitterness and resentment takes so much more energy.   You end up being a martyr of sorts and I also feel that energy may repel others.  We would all be much better off if we could focus on being better.  Not everyone may have gotten the best start in life, yet, one can determine the type of ending they will have.  Look forward to being better, let go of anything in your past that caused you resentment and take ownership of writing your own ending to your your story.
